When a Buzzer Isn't Enough: How IZWI Gives Your Safety Systems a Voice

Safety equipment on earth-moving machinery is typically installed to give operators warnings for various events - but those warnings are mostly audible buzzers. And buzzers all sound the same. If an operator can't distinguish one alert from another, the warning fails at the one job it has: telling them exactly what's wrong, right now.
That's the problem NAE's IZWI EPS Link was built to solve - by giving your safety systems an actual voice.
The IZWI unit connects to both the Graphite Mining Fleet Management System and the EPS - Engine Protection System, which record and monitor for a wide range of events. When triggered an event that has a matching voice clip loads, that clip plays through an installed speaker - instantly and unambiguously telling the operator what's happening.

Some of the voice notifications in action:
- "Engine condition fault detected. Machine's engine will be stopped in a few seconds."
- "Engine running normal."
- "Machine overrevving, please reduce machine RPM immediately."
- "Please ensure that you have completed your pre-use checklist and present a valid tag" (on ignition)
- "This tag is not valid, please contact the control room for assistance" (invalid tag presented)
- "Attention, brake test failed, please redo your brake test before entering the pit area"
Every one of these events is also logged and viewable on the platform, or alerted via SMS/email - so control room staff have the same visibility as the operator in the cab.
Beyond the immediate alert, IZWI also gives you:
- Voice prompts tied to specific, evolving NFMS events
- EPS trip alerts
- An engine trip dashboard
- Online engine logs

The scenarios in which a voice clip can be played are vast, and the ever-evolving mining fleet management ecosystem is consistently adding new features and events with accompanying voice notifications. When updates are needed, the IZWI unit's memory card can simply be replaced - and a heartbeat signal is logged to the platform to confirm the unit is online and working correctly at all times.
Clear communication in the cab isn't a nice-to-have - it's often the difference between a fault being addressed immediately or ignored until it's serious.
